Why this verdict

Irish Immigration says Ukrainian citizens do not need a visa to travel to Ireland, but it also states plainly that this is an emergency measure linked to the invasion of Ukraine rather than a normal treaty-style tourist waiver. Travellers arriving under this waiver are initially given a standard 90 day entry permission while support and protection measures are put in place, so this corridor should be read as a fragile war-related waiver, not as ordinary long-term policy symmetry with Schengen visa-free travel.

Conditional rules

  Ireland's Ukraine visa waiver does not automatically extend to other visa-required nationalities, including non-Ukrainian family members. Those travellers still need to follow Ireland's normal entry-visa process.

  Temporary protection is a separate residence-based protection status for people displaced from Ukraine. It is not the same thing as ordinary short-stay visa-free visitor access, even though the emergency visa waiver can be the route used to arrive.
